Sue Wilson brings more than two decades of leadership in international private medical insurance to the panel at Building Bridges 2026 where she will share practical insights on navigating complex collaborations across borders, cultures, healthcare systems, and regulatory environments.

Sue has worked for over 24 years with International Medical Group (IMG) and more recently with its partner, À La Carte Healthcare Limited (ALC Health), covering Southern Europe including Gibraltar, Spain, Portugal, Malta, and Italy. Her tenure reflects not only professional consistency, but deep relationship-building across insurers, brokers, hospitals, clinics, and expatriate communities. Since ALC Health’s acquisition by IMG in 2017, she has played an important role in aligning regional expertise with global infrastructure—demonstrating how thoughtful integration can strengthen both customer experience and operational resilience.

Having grown up in Singapore, Bangkok, and Malaysia, Sue has spent half of her life as an expatriate. This experience informs her empathetic leadership style and her nuanced understanding of the challenges individuals and families face when relocating internationally. She recognizes that international healthcare is not merely transactional—it is personal, often urgent, and frequently complex. Her work has centered on designing and delivering medical insurance solutions that allow expatriates to access treatment either in their country of residence or their home country, ensuring flexibility, continuity, and peace of mind.

Under Ms. Wilson’s regional leadership, ALC Health was among the first global insurers to establish outpatient direct billing arrangements in select countries, enabling policyholders to access private hospitals and physicians without upfront payment barriers. Following the integration with IMG—owned by SiriusPoint, an A-rated company by Standard & Poor’s—Sue has helped support the modernization of the customer journey. Innovations such as the MyIMG digital claims portal and the establishment of a claims processing centre in Cardiff, South Wales, have significantly improved efficiency, enabling real-time claims submission and reimbursement while strengthening cost management through dedicated hospital network negotiations.

Sue’s portfolio spans long-term Global Private Medical Insurance (GPMI) plans as well as short-term and travel products including GlobeHopper and WorldStudy plans. These offerings are designed to meet increasingly complex residency and visa requirements, including non-lucrative visas, Golden Visa programmes, and the needs of digital nomads, expatriate families, and SMEs operating internationally. Her ability to navigate evolving regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions makes her a valuable voice in discussions about cross-border healthcare access and compliance.

Collaboration has been a cornerstone of Sue’s career. She works closely with a global network of insurance brokers and introducers, many of whom have partnered with ALC Health and IMG for over 15 years. She emphasizes transparency, responsiveness, and tailored solutions—balancing the financial security of a global insurer with the flexibility required in diverse local markets. Through active participation in international broker forums and leadership events across Europe, she continues to foster partnerships that drive sustainable growth.

At Building Bridges, Sue will draw on real-world experience supporting policyholders through serious illness, accidents, and complex care journeys—illustrating how insurers, providers, and intermediaries can work together to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time, wherever they are in the world.
