We are proud to welcome María Paula Cornejo, an accomplished international business strategist and healthcare leader whose work bridges global partnerships, innovation, and human-centered care as a speaker for the Building Bridges: Hospitals & International Private Medical Insurance Conference.

As International Business Director at Hospital Internacional de Colombia (FCV), María Paula Cornejo has spent the past decade expanding the institution’s reach across Latin America and the Caribbean—building cross-sector partnerships with health ministries, insurers, and medical organizations in more than ten countries. Under her leadership, FCV has strengthened its reputation as a center of excellence for international collaboration and patient-centered care.

Her initiatives have included launching FCV’s international digital presence, designing outreach programs to improve regional health outcomes, and hosting the 15th Health Financing Conference of the Caribbean, which brought together regional health leaders to foster cooperation across Latin America and the Caribbean.

María Paula is recognized for her ability to connect strategy with empathy—transforming the traditional “customer service” model into a Patient Experience Department focused on human-centered design and continuous quality improvement. Her leadership contributed to measurable improvements in patient satisfaction and helped advance FCV’s international accreditation under Joint Commission International (JCI) standards.

Her achievements have earned her the Entrepreneur of the Year (Golden Falcon Category) award from Dinero Magazine and Universidad del Rosario, as well as two Santander Export Awards for excellence in medical tourism. Fluent in Spanish and English, with additional proficiency in French and German, she brings a truly global perspective to the evolving landscape of healthcare partnerships and diplomacy.

At the Barcelona Euro HTC Conference, María Paula Cornejo will share insights drawn from her experience leading institutional transformation, advancing health diplomacy, and creating sustainable international partnerships that extend access to quality care across borders.

“Healthcare diplomacy is not just about expanding markets—it’s about expanding understanding,” she says. “Our goal is to build bridges between systems, cultures, and people to deliver health with humanity.”
