Dr. Roman is the Providers and Clinical Steerage Director for Latin America & Europe at VUMI. He is an internationally recognized physician, health management expert, and bridge-builder between the worlds of clinical practice, healthcare systems innovation, and cross-cultural collaboration. With deep roots in both Latin America and Europe, Dr. Roman brings a unique global perspective to health leadership — one grounded in frontline experience, strategic insight, and a passion for equitable, technology-enabled care. 

A medical doctor by training, Dr. Roman’s professional journey spans clinical practice, health systems leadership, medical education, and strategic healthcare consulting.

Over the course of his career, he has worked to strengthen care delivery models, improve physician-to-patient relationships, and advance health outcomes across diverse settings. Known for his leadership in health management and interdisciplinary problem-solving, Dr. Roman consistently emphasizes the importance of connecting people, ideas, and innovations to transform healthcare delivery. 

Dr. Roman’s work is deeply informed by his bicultural identity and professional experience across Peru and Spain — two regions where he has engaged with healthcare systems at both policy and practice levels. He often speaks about the value of constructing bridges between different medical traditions, technological innovations, and cultural contexts to foster a more inclusive, effective approach to care. In a recent reflection on Hispanic cultural ties and health innovation, he described himself as a “nexus between two lands,” committed to integrating traditional knowledge with cutting-edge medical science to benefit communities on both continents. 

In addition to his healthcare leadership, Dr. Roman is an active contributor to professional development and continuing education. He has participated in programs focused on healthcare pedagogy and leadership, including completing the XIX Program of Development of Teaching Skills at Universidad ESAN, underscoring his commitment to lifelong learning and teaching. 

Dr. Roman maintains a vibrant presence in the global health community through thought leadership and engagement with peers across sectors. On platforms such as LinkedIn, he frequently shares insights on health systems management, clinical governance, and innovation in medicine, engaging thousands of followers and fostering dialogue on how to improve healthcare delivery at scale.
